Lyrium poisoning is thought to be related to an over-exposure to the powers of The Fade, and includes powerful auditory and visual hallucinations that reproduce the experiences, sensations, and memories of the deceased. It is capable of disrupting a person's cognitive facilities to the point of inducing catatonia, coma, and even death.
