While all of The Madjai are honored throughout Zarthura, none better represent that which Zarthurians hold dear than the Silken Shadow. The god of beauty, indulgence and sensuality, Cassiel is the personification of a life well-lived. For most elves, it is believed that the devoted worship of Cassiel can lead to a personal abundance of luxury, comfort and extravagance, making him particularly popular across the populace but especially amongst the nobility. Even when not stated outright, he is often seen as the de-facto patron god of all Zarthurian cities and always has a shrine somewhere in a place of great prominence in any elven urban center.

Compared to other gods, Cassiel tends to be viewed as more approachable and accessible than the rest, with some rumors even going so far as to suggest that he regularly consorts with his favored followers. In the surviving mythology of The Madjai, Cassiel is generally portrayed as a distant observer to the activities of his peers, vastly preferring drinking wine to taking sport... but only a fool would mistake this behavior for complacency, for each of The Madjai are known to be deadly in their own right. In the case of Cassiel, he is said to kill in the same manner he does all things: intimately.
