Summer Fey

Summer Fey are lithe and light on their feet, equally built for dancing across the sand and swimming through the water. All Summer Fey tend to prefer gowns, tunics, and capes in the bright colors of seashells and desert flowers. Summer Fey tend to wear little jewelry (unless the piece was given to them by a lover), though they do often wear woven anklets or bracelets.

The Summer Fey enjoy their lives; everything is a source of pleasure to them, from songs and dances to hunts and battles. Confident and spontaneous, they leap into whatever lies ahead. The Summer Fey fear boredom, and go to great lengths to find new ways to amuse themselves. This may be as harmless as seeking out every song ever sung, or as dangerous as breeding ever-more vicious strains of animate tropical plants.

The Summer Fey often keep pets. With their charms, they have pacified creatures that are usually wild and violent-- the more curious or exotic the specimen, the better. Summer Fey are kind to their pets but they can be fickle; if they grow bored, they may give the pet away or set it free.

Summer Fey are known for having many friends and for loving deeply and easily. Romance in all its forms appeals to them, though their relationships are less likely to last than those of other fey. A romance with a Summer Fey may be a whirlwind of delight, full of romantic gifts, dancing beneath the stars, and reams of heartfelt poetry-- but it will also probably be over in less than a decade.

While they are in love, however, the Summer Fey are fiercely protective of the object of their affections. They usually look for clever ways to avoid violence, and prefer talking or tricking their way out of problems, but if something they love is threatened they are capable of sudden bursts of anger in which they may commit truly ugly acts. Summer Fey dislike being angry, and generally feel dirty when they come out of a rage. They cannot suppress their own spontaneity, however, whether it manifests in joy or in fury.

Summer Fey in Society

The Summer Fey are nimble and light-footed, excelling at music and dance as well as possessing a natural affinity for animals and growing things. As such, the Summer Fey fill many roles within Arcadian society. They serve as performers, gaining favor with the highest Arcadian nobles through the beauty of their music and the enchantment of their dance. Since summer is the season of youth, Summer Fey are often charged with the care of young fey. Because of their skill with diplomacy and their cheerful natures, Summer Fey are often chosen as ambassadors to other realms.
